The G. Rufus Sessions Award for Excellence in Mobile Health is awarded on behalf of the commanding general of the United States Army Medical Research and Materiel Command at the American Telemedicine Association (ATA) annual conference in recognition of a "champion who most embodies the enthusiasm, competence and vision in expanding the field of wireless health". The award is named in honor of the late G. Rufus Sessions (US Army Retired), who was himself a champion of telemedicine and mobile health. Rufus Sessions served as the Chief Scientific Officer at the Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC) which is a subordinate command of the United States Army Medical Research and Materiel Command. During his tenure at TATRC, Dr. Sessions demonstrated an unparalleled depth of commitment to his work and contributed immeasurably to the field of telemedicine and advanced medical technologies. He was unrelentingly diligent in working toward the acceptance of these technologies in the user community, and as a result, distinguished himself as a pioneer in a field that is inherently forward-looking.〔 == List of recipients ==
